Ooops! I’ve been watching my darn blog counter for the last few weeks as I slowly got closer and closer to 200 posts. Not that it is really a huge deal, but I was still pretty excited about it.
So, I looked today and alas, my last post was post 200. So, hooray for today’s post 201! And thank you all for sticking around with me as I ramble on, share too much, and generally drag you into my crazy life.
On another note, I shared a bit ago about how Brian convinced me to run a 5k, even though I was only able to run about 1.5 miles at a time. Well, I’m proud to report that last night I ran 3.11 miles without stopping! I can’t believe I’ve come this far considering we just decided to go for this last week. Now, I’m not saying I can easily go run 3 miles, or that I’ll do it all the time, but I’m happy to know that come race day I’ll at least be able to finish the darn thing. The crazy part is that I am actually really enjoying running for the first time in as long as I can remember- I actually crave going out for a run after work. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to go for a leisurely 5 or 6 mile jog, but for now I’m perfectly content with my usual 2 mile lap with the occasional extra mile thrown in.
How about you? Any major blogging milestones coming up? Have you overcome a hatred (or fear) of running or something else you thought was impossible?
I started running again this week too. I don't know how many miles I've worked up to, I usually just keep track of how long I've been running/walking/biking/whatever. I'm very sporadic with it – I'll do it for a while and then I stop for a long time, and then start up again. This time I'm hoping to keep up with it and other forms of exercise.
Yay! That is awesome. I can't remember if your iPod touch has wi-fi only or 3G, but there is an awesome FREE app called Endomondo that is great for tracking workouts- it will track time, route, etc. I actually might do a post on it just because it gives you so much info for no cost!
I almost have to track my workouts- if I don't have that challenge to keep improving I definitely would give up on it asap. I think right now my biggest motivator is the 5K- I might have to run a few this summer to keep up!
Hi J,
Glad you're enjoying running and managing to stick with it. The miles get easier, honest! I can often get into a meditative state when I'm running (which I love).
Two weeks today I am doing a half-marathon! My first…! I'm running it to raise money for my Rotary Club and there were supposed to be two of us running it, but the other lady has had to pull out, so I am running on my own. Eek! I've done a couple of 10-mile runs and have a longer one scheduled for tomorrow. I really hope I will get round it on the day…
Anyway, all best wishes for the 5k – I'm sure you'll love it!
Wow! I'm sure you will do great at the half!!! I barely ran 13 miles in all of last week- I can't imagine doing it all in one go… maybe someday.
I definitely hear you on the meditative state thing- I was totally there yesterday. It makes the run so much more enjoyable. Hopefully I can get there more often the more I run!
