One more night

Well, a twelve hour day yesterday prevented me from posting. I guess being so busy was good; it prevented me from counting down the hours until Thursday night.

A slower day today, however, means the count is back on. While I am not so crazy as to count the hours, I am very well aware that there is only ONE more night until we are in the new place! And that makes me very excited.

Since we both work tomorrow, we won’t get to the apartment ’till around 4 p.m. My boss told me I could take the day off, but we have a site visit with a potential major funder that I really don’t want to miss. Plus, Brian has to work– I really want to wait and see the new place for the first time together. He, on the other hand, could care less. I guess it is just my sentimental side that finds something awesome about picking up the keys and walking in the door together. Regardless, he had better wait for me if he gets of work early or I’ll kick is butt.

Anyway, I know I have mentioned in previous posts that we are doing the move in two phases: the basics will be moved in tomorrow, with the remainder of our stuff being moved over the weekend. Partially because I am a compulsive organizer and partially because I am excited and want to keep my mind occupied, I wrote a list of what needs to be packed for the first move. And because I know at least one of the people who read this is also compulsively organized, I figure I’ll share:

To Move/Pack Thursday
1. Filofax (yes, I am obsessed)
2. Computer
3. Clothes for Friday/Saturday
4. Champagne!
5. Toiletries
6. Food
7. Book (currently Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
8. Dishes
9. Christmas stuff
10. Shower curtain
Retyping this list made me laugh. I didn’t realize that when I first wrote it, champagne outranked food, dishes and my toothbrush. I’m not sure what that says about me, but it probably isn’t anything good.
I’m hoping that I can get out of work a bit early today to get most of this stuff together since it is all spread between two bedrooms and a garage right now. Thankfully most of it is in the house; I am not looking forward to sorting through the garage this weekend. Hopefully my excitement will keep me warm.
