The last night

I can’t believe this year has gone by so quickly. It doesn’t seem possible that just a year ago I was just moving into an amazing apartment on the lake. Over the last year, this little studio has become my home. So I have to admit, when I came home to check my mail tonight and saw “vacant” taped inside my mailbox, I teared up a little.

A few things have changed, making tonight my last night here at the Sherwin. Brian and I will be back on Sunday to move me out and I will stop by again next week to clean up, but as far as me living here this is it. It is definitely an odd feeling.

The plan was for me to drive out to the burbs on Saturday night, so Brian and I could drive the trucks back on Sunday for the move. House stuff has thrown that off a bit.

We still haven’t heard back on the Grace House– hopefully we will have an answer tomorrow. Even if we do get the house, it looks like we will be taking the La Londe House. It just seems like the Grace House, as amazing as it is, requires way to much money to repair than we want to spend at this point. Plus, a move-in ready place would be great since we are both going to be living with our parents until the contract is signed.

If we do officially decide on the La Londe House, the addendum must be turned in to the listing agent by 4 p.m. Saturday. The addendum requires both of our signatures, plus a certified check for the earnest money. Instead of faxing the form back and forth for signatures, we just decided it would be best for me to come home so we can sign together and get the check prepared Saturday morning. Since Brian has a wedding to shoot, I will bring it out to the listing agent.

The new plan throws off my packing by a day, but I am realizing I really don’t have as much left as I thought. Between the two of us, Brian and I shouldn’t have any problem getting it done in a day. Plus, I am going to try and get a few things packed tonight so I can free up a bit of space for the big move.

Well, I have to be at a conference at 6:45 a.m. I think I will do some packing, then fall asleep one more night to the sound of the waves on the lake.
